Mr. Klein serves as Duke University's first-ever Associate Vice President for Economic Development, a role created to translate Duke's institutional weight into genuine opportunity for Durham residents in housing, workforce development, and economic mobility. Previously, he ran real estate strategy for Capitol Broadcasting Company and was the Chief Strategist for American Underground.
Mr. Klein is also a gubernatorial appointee to North Carolina's Entrepreneurship Council, serves on the boards of the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce (as Immediate Past Chair), the Institute for Minority Economic Development, and the Research Triangle Regional Partnership. He has previously served on the Boards of the Durham Public Schools Foundation, Downtown Durham Inc., and Z. Smith Reynolds Community Leadership. He knows this region's nonprofit and civic infrastructure the way most people know their own neighborhood.
He lives in Durham with his wife, Manda, and their three daughters.
